Located at the foot of Ostrzyca<\/a>, Proboszcz\u00f3w<\/strong> is one of the oldest villages in the region and was established as a strip-field village at the turn of the 12th and 13th centuries. In the 17th century, Proboszcz\u00f3w was inhabited by a strong Schwenkfelder community, which was forced to emigrate in 1726. During the period after the Thirty Years’ War, the local church served as a refuge for escaping Protestants, attracting followers from neighboring regions.<\/p>\n

The church is the most interesting historical landmark in the village. It was originally built in the Romanesque style in the mid-13th century, expanded in the 15th century, and reconstructed in the 16th century after it was taken over by Protestants. This included the addition of galleries within the interior. Abandoned after World War II, it was restored to its religious function in the 1960s and is now a Catholic church. The church is surrounded by a wall that encloses the former cemetery, where sandstone epitaphs and tombstones from the 16th to 19th centuries are placed. An impressive chapel was erected in 1729 for the von Redern family, who owned the village since 1428. Near the church, there is an ensemble of a palace and park, featuring a neoclassical palace from the early 19th century built on the site of an older manor. Unfortunately, it is neglected, as is the adjacent English-style landscaped park covering 9.5 hectares with a pond and islands. Throughout the village, you can observe many substantial, two-story half-timbered and masonry buildings, typical of 19th-century Silesian villages.<\/p>\n
